Medications like Wegovy and Zepbound receive plenty of buzz for their ability to help people lose weight. The two have a few things in common, mainly, peptides for weight loss. Wegovy (semaglutide) belongs to a class of medications known as glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1), and Zepbound (tirzepatide) is both a GLP-1 and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP). But here’s the thing: Not all peptides are designed for weight loss, although research has found that it’s usually a common side effect.
