Speakers for the Symposium

The Team Science core will host a symposium on Tuesday January 28, 2020 entitled “Academic Careers in the Era of Team Science.” Registration will be open to all interested parties across the consortium, including trainees, faculty, students, and administrators.  To register please email Nancy Reichman at reichmne@rwjms.rutgers.edu.

The symposium will feature experts with a variety of perspectives discussing the importance of team science, how to launch a successful career built on team science, and how team science can be rewarded in academic promotion and tenure processes.

The first panel will consist of three speakers from within the NJ ACTS consortium: Shawna Hudson,Professor and Research Division Chief in the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health at the Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School; Edmund Lattime, Professor of Surgery and Associate Director of the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey; and Sam Wang, Professor of Neuroscience at Princeton University.

The second panel will feature three experts from outside of the consortium who have published in the area of academic promotion and tenure as it relates to team science: Holly J. Falk-Krzesinski, PhD, Vice President, Research Intelligence at Elsevier; Julie Thompson Klein, Professor of Humanities Emerita in the English Department at Wayne State University; and Susan McHale, Distinguished Professor of Human Development and Professor of Demography at Penn State College of Health and Human Development.
