To combat the spread of COVID-19, researchers at Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences (RBHS) are conducting a six-month study with 750 participants who work at Rutgers and affiliated hospitals to learn more about the incidence, transmission, and severity of the disease. The Cohort Study of SARS-CoV-2 Incidence, Transmission, and Disease Severity in Healthcare Workers will be led by the three co-principal investigators: Martin J. Blaser, director of the Center for Advanced Biotechnology and Medicine; Jeffrey L. Carson, provost–New Brunswick at RBHS; and Reynold A. Panettieri, Jr., director of Rutgers Institute for Translational Medicine and Science.
The goal of this study is to help increase our understanding of the reasons and risk factors associated with infection and how to better protect members of our community, especially health care workers who are our front line of defense and are particularly vulnerable.
