Compared to white Americans, African Americans are at elevated risk for age-related cognitive decline and memory loss – with double the prevalence of Alzheimer’s disease (AD).

The “Risk Factors for Future Cognitive Decline and Alzheimer’s Disease in Older African Americans” R01, builds on a full year of pilot data from a R56 bridge award, to further understand this disparity. It is designed to confront gaps in understanding minority health disparities in AD and address the need for evaluating and validating novel cognitive assessments sensitive to the earliest stages of prodromal Alzheimer’s disease.
