Currently over 51 million people in the United States are under active National Weather Service extreme heat advisories, warnings and watches according to HEAT.gov, the website for the National Integrated Heat Health Information System. In New Jersey, excessive heat blankets the region with temperatures in the eighties and nineties in parts of the state. Health care providers have long warned people about the dangers excess heat poses.
