Clinical Research Center
The mission of the CRC is to support and stimulate clinical and translational research throughout Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and provide a conduit by which industry sponsors and other collaborators may access the abundant clinical expertise, extensive patient networks and impressive research talent available in Rutgers-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and its affiliates to bring new therapies, tests and treatments more rapidly to the community.
Location and Description
The CRC is located on the 8th floor of the new East Tower building adjacent to the RWJ Barnabas University Hospital. The CRC maintains spacious exam rooms, overnight patient facilities, and laboratory facilities, and offers nursing, pharmacy, and laboratory services for all clinical trial needs.
This contemporary 11,646 square foot space is equipped with:
- 4 examination rooms
- 4 long stay rooms
- 2 infusion rooms
- a phlebotomy station with specimen processing and storage laboratory facilities
- a fully-equipped pulmonary function lab
- ample office space for clinical trial monitoring visits
- staff offices
- a conference room
- an investigational Drug Pharmacy with drug storage capability
Services and Equipment
Our Services:
The CRC provides access to highly trained and dedicated research staff with expertise in Phase I – IV clinical trials. The CRC is a hub which brings together basic, clinical and translational researchers to develop novel and productive research projects. The CRC also facilitates interactions with industry sponsors and collaborators in the performance of clinical and translational research.
Services include:
- Protocol support: Conducting study visits at the CRC, Inpatient units, or outpatient clinics (if needed)
- Study coordination
- Sample Collection: blood, saliva, swabs
- EKG
- Survey administration
- Phlebotomy, sample handling, storage, and shipping
- Point of care testing: Pregnancy test, HbA1C
- Data entry and management
- Participant education (study specific electronic systems)
- Regulatory guidance and management
- Assistance with research budget and/or contract negotiations
Equipment and facilities

- Phlebotomy station with specimen processing and storage laboratory facilities: Centrifuges, Freezer (-20,-80)
- Fully-equipped Pulmonary Function Lab
- Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing and Metabolic Cart
