Notice of Special Interest (NOSI): Administrative Supplements to Recognize Excellence in Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) Mentorship – Notice NOT-OD-23-002 – Release Date: November 18, 2023, The participating Institutes and Centers (ICs) are inviting applications to support administrative supplements to existing NIH awards to support scientists who have demonstrated compelling commitments and contributions to mentorship and enhancing diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) in the biomedical sciences. Funds will support ongoing and future efforts.

2023 Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs (CDMRP) – The Traumatic Brain Injury and Psychological Health Research Program (TBIPHRP) has released five funding announcements for FY23.  The TBIPHRP anticipates funding approximately 70 awards ranging from $500k total direct costs up to $5M total direct costs. LHS STAR NJ Program is requesting applications for research projects that will: Use LHS Science methods of Comparative Effectiveness Research, Dissemination & Implementation Science, and Patient-Centered Outcomes Research; Identify existing best practices or develop innovations to improve the quality, safety, outcomes, efficiency, equity, and patient-centeredness of care; Aim to improve the care of patients and populations served by our academic health system, partner health systems, and affiliated institutions; Produce findings that can be implemented into real-world practice. 2 – 4 projects funded per cycle, Up to $100,000 per project. Patient-Centered Outcome Research Institute (PCORI) PCORI seeks to fund studies that build an evidence base on engagement in research. PCORI’s Online System will open on September 6, 2023, for the submission of Letters of Intent (LOI) for the Advancing the Science of Engagement PCORI Funding Announcement (PFA) under Cycle 3 2023.

Rutgers BHI-RUN-NJIT Pilot Grants in Neuroscience Program A joint effort by Rutgers Brain Health Institute and New Jersey Institute of Technology, that funds interdisciplinary pilot studies to test new ideas in translational neuroscience and obtain preliminary data to allow funding from external sources.
Busch Biomedical Grant Program This program is designed to enhance biomedical research at the university and to strengthen the competitive position of faculty members who seek external research funds.
HEAL (Helping to End Addiction Long-term) Initiative NIH supported research to enhance pain management and improve treatment for opioid misuse and addiction, supporting hundreds of projects that reflect the full spectrum of research from basic science to implementation research.
NIH INCLUDE Project The INCLUDE (INvestigation of Co-occurring conditions across the Lifespan to Understand Down syndromE) project calls for a new trans-NIH research initiative on critical health and quality-of-life needs for individuals with Down syndrome.
HealthAdvance Provides commercialization funding to assist the development of early-stage life sciences technologies and make them more attractive for continued follow-on investments from industry partners and external investors.
TechAdvance Offers grants for promising technologies in areas including life science, physical science, engineering, agriculture and IT that have strong potential for commercial success but are “too early” for investors or industry partners.
Rutgers I-Corps Site Provides training, resources, networking opportunities, and modest funding to assist in transitioning innovations into the marketplace. Students, faculty, and staff from all Rutgers campuses are eligible to apply.
NIH Loan Repayment Programs (LRPs) A set of programs established by Congress and designed to recruit and retain highly qualified health professionals into biomedical or biobehavioral research careers.
NHLBI Catalyze Program The NHLBI Catalyze Program facilitates the transition of basic science discoveries into viable diagnostic and therapeutic candidates cleared for human testing.
