Ankit Shah, MD is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. He earned his medical degree at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School with Alpha Omega Alpha honors. He then completed internal medicine residency and an endocrinology fellowship at Columbia University Medical Center.
Dr. Shah is an active clinical and translational investigator. During his postdoctoral fellowship, he studied the role of glucagon-like peptide-1 on glycemic improvement after gastric bypass surgery and received support from the Endocrine Fellows Foundation and NIH/NIDDK. He currently studies gluconeogenesis substrate utilization in humans with and without type 2 diabetes using stable isotope tracers and mass spectrometry. His research has been supported by NIH/NCATS and through external foundation awards. Areas of clinical interest include type 1 and type 2 diabetes and general endocrinology.
