Dr. Qiana L. Brown is an Assistant Professor at the Rutgers Schools of Social Work and Public Health. Her research focuses on substance use and maternal and child health. As a recipient of a CTSA career development award from the NJ ACTS, Dr. Brown is examining cannabis use during preconception, pregnancy and lactation and associated maternal and child health outcomes in New Jersey and other states. Dr. Brown’s research has been published in top-tier journals, to include JAMA.
Dr. Brown earned her Ph.D. and completed a postdoctoral research fellowship in substance use disorder epidemiology from Johns Hopkins University and Columbia University, respectively. She also holds MPH and MSW degrees in maternal and child health. In addition to research, Dr. Brown founded and directs a non-profit, community-based, substance abuse treatment center – Jane’s House of Inspiration – which focuses on helping women, families and communities address problems related to substance use disorders.
