DESCRIPTION:The Institute for Health\, Health Care Policy\, and Aging Research is hosting a seminar at 12 p.m. on Thursday\, June 23\, 2022\, as part of its Brown Bag Seminar Series. \n“Does Diversity Matter for Health?” \nPresented by Marcella Alsan\, Harvard Kennedy School \nMarcella Alsan is a professor of public policy at Harvard Kennedy School (John F. Kennedy School of Government). She is an applied microeconomist studying health inequality. Her recent publications include “Does Diversity Matter for Health: Experimental Evidence from Oakland” and “Tuskegee and the Health of Black Men\,” published in American Economic Review and The Quarterly Journal of Economics\, respectively\, and a series of papers on messaging during COVID-19 published in medical and public health outlets. \nAlsan received a B.A. degree from Harvard University\, a master’s in public health from Harvard School of Public Health\, an M.D. degree from Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine\, and a Ph.D. in economics from Harvard. Alsan trained at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in the Hiatt Global Health Equity Residency Fellowship and completed an infectious disease fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital. \nFree and open to the public.
